Location: Hastings on Hudson, NY
Project Type: Replace and Remodel
This contemporary house on the Hudson River received a handful of renovations to open up the living space. The homeowners wanted to create a larger dining area and a better reading space, and develop a more open connection to the outdoors. By adding space on both levels, a new, elegant, light-filled entry was created. The addition on the upper level was articulated as two dramatically different volumes: an opaque block housing a new powder room, and an entirely transparent, glazed cube that extended the dining room. Despite its beautiful riverside location, the house lacked views of the Hudson and New York City skyline. But the new space opened views from the inside of the house as well as the deck. Marvin built an assembly of custom-made fir doors and panels for the addition. All new Marvin windows made it possible to bring more light indoors, create stunning river and city views, and anchor the home in its natural environment.
