Career Jet-Setters Land on a Contemporary Centerpiece

A home fit for New England high-flyers

Taking time from their busy day jobs as airline pilots, Jamie and Tara Crowley desired a front row seat to fulfill their shared passion for aviation from within their Boston Bay coastal home. The married co-pilot couple had been steadily renovating their New England dwelling overlooking Logan Airport and hoped to get a grander view of the frequent arrivals and departures from the comfort of their home.

The Crowley’s had a plan in place as they aimed to transform an existing rear bedroom into a new guest suite. Their visual runway was nearly clear for takeoff—they just needed the right build to accentuate their aeronautical inclinations.

“The bright spot during our renovation was the team at Marvin and JB Sash,” said Jamie, who visited the Marvin at 7 Tide Brand Experience Center to help envision their new space. “It was just night and day compared to the other people we worked with during the process. They were on top of things; they did what they said they were going to do.”

They had decided on the Marvin Skycove window and the Ultimate Multi-Slide door for the large-scale renovation of their main floor. The Crowleys were initially looking for high-quality windows and doors that provided soundproofing, proper insulation, and functionality. As much as the Crowley’s fondness for commercial aircraft shaped their approach, the constant roar of jet engines was an unwelcome guest.

“We were looking for a glass door, and we ended up with this room and a view that helps get me out of bed in the morning,” Tara said. “It’s so wide open; it’s a nearly 180-degree view, and we can look out to the water and watch the boats or the birds or feel like we’re out there.”

The team at Marvin at 7 Tide helped Tara envision how the seating ledge of her new Skycove could invoke a feeling of levitation from within her living space. The opportunity to visit the showroom and experience a Skycove firsthand, including how it was decorated and incorporated into the design of the room, gave Tara the confidence that it would become the new centerpiece of her living space.

The finished renovation surpassed the Crowley’s expectations, adding a lively amount of sunlight and capability for their space, “It just feels so airy and beautiful … It really opened up the room and made it feel bigger. We’re absolutely thrilled with what it’s become.”
