    About Warroad

    Living in Warroad means enjoying peaceful small-town life on Lake of the Woods with everyday conveniences close at hand. Residents have access to local grocery shopping, dining, and specialty stores right in town. This makes it easy to run errands, enjoy a great meal, or find a unique gift close to home, while still planning the occasional road trip for bigger shopping needs.

    Warroad’s local businesses support daily life with a range of dining options, a well-stocked grocery store, and a mix of boutiques, gift shops, sporting goods retailers and more throughout the community. From apparel and outdoor gear to artisan gifts and everyday essentials, shopping here is convenient and community focused.

    Grand Forks, about two hours southwest, offers a full lineup of national retailers, malls, and unique boutiques, including Columbia Mall and Midtown District, which host department stores, specialty shops, and local favorites.

    Winnipeg is the true metro‑level option, located roughly two and a half hours north in Canada. Major malls include CF Polo Park, Outlet Collection Winnipeg, and The Forks Market, each offering hundreds of stores, dining options, and specialty markets.

    Together, Warroad’s local offerings — combined with easy access to larger regional shopping hubs — give residents the best of both worlds: convenience and community at home, with big city variety just a road trip away.

    Marvin is partnering with the city of Warroad to support the development of 300 new housing units in over three years. New apartments, town homes, and single-family homes opened in 2024.

    The Future is Bright

    Warroad Public Schools welcomes preschoolers to 12th grade. There are a variety of educational programs including Robotics, Speech, and Performance Arts to name a few. In addition, there are several youth athletic programs, from basketball to hockey, trap shooting to golfing, and more.


    Northland Community and Technical College, in partnership with Marvin, offers a mechatronics program in Warroad. The first-of-its-kind education opportunity is a pathway to a career in advanced manufacturing automation.


    Children of active, full-time Marvin employees who have worked at least one year at any company location can apply for a scholarship through the Marvin Scholarship Program.
