If you love Corian countertops, hang on — soon you may have even more reasons to love them.
A number of companies, including DuPont, are exploring countertop and tabletop materials that feature conductive qualities allowing them to transmit a charge directly to an electronic device.
As Houzz.com contributor Mike Elgan writes,
“In the future you’ll never have to consciously charge your phone. Just setting it down on a kitchen table, bedside table, coffee table or desk will charge it, because a wireless charger will be built into every surface you might set your phone on … DuPont, for example, plans to embed wireless charging technology into its Corian synthetic granite countertops; gadgets can be charged by simply placing them on the surface.”
This innovation could give builders and architects much more flexibility when planning electrical, allowing them to cut back significantly on the number of outlets present in the office, kitchen and even the bedroom.
