Home Connects to Outdoors Using High Performance Windows & Doors

Snowy Scene Through Marvin Elevate Casement Window

These homeowners wanted to pair the charm of a classic New England farmhouse with modern craftsmanship and energy efficiency. Using high-performance windows and doors that fit their tight budget, the result was a cozy, sun-filled residence with space for their three small children to play and grow.

Products from the Elevate Collection—Casement, Awning, Double Hung windows and Inswing French door—fit the traditional style the couple envisioned while filling the southern-facing main floor with sunlight and views of nature.

The family wanted to incorporate locally sourced materials, so local stone was used for countertop surfaces and the cozy fireplace surround. Red birch flooring offers warm wood tones throughout the home, with cork flooring in the playroom to provide a softer surface on while minimizing sound to the rest of the home. The overhang on the second level provides protective shading of the lower level windows while maximizing solar warmth on shorter winter days.

Set on a scenic lot surrounded by woods and a small pond, the family’s home features a bright, open floor plan with clear sightlines from the clean-lined white kitchen through the living and dining rooms, all the way to the screen porch. The result is a bright, spacious home that connects family members to each other and to the outdoors.
