Alvhem

Alvhem means “river home” in Swedish, and the name reflects the homeowner’s family

heritage. As the name implies, this house is located on a partially wooded bluff overlooking a river. The homeowner had a clear vision for this site, requesting a modern house designed around a simple, shed roof form. Few windows are visible from the street. Riverside, however, one encounters a dramaticwall of windows and panoramic views. Marvin Technical Services provided the engineering necessary to structure such a large expanse of multiple window units. Tempered glass adds security and peace of mind in a location occasionally threatened with adverse weather conditions and potential debris from nearby trees.
