Farm Villa Tilt Turn and Hopper Window
Architect: John Tittmann, Albert, Righter & Tittman
Farm Villa synthesizes the modest, local traditions of the Vermont farmhouse with those of the Neoclassical European villa. The windows and doors play an integral part in achieving this blend. The grand, Marvin French doors and Marvin’s clad tilt-and-turn windows recall a European tradition familiar to the client, while the small panes of glass and the simpler muntin patterns on the barn relate to the local vernacular of Vermont farmhouses. Marvin’s Magnum Tilt/Turn windows contribute to the house’s energy efficiency. The Low E coating of the glass helped achieve Farm Villa’s Energy Star qualification and a house that consumes 15% less energy than buildings built merely to code. The generous size of the windows also allows for luxurious views of the Vermont mountains beyond.
