Plainfield, Main Street
Architect: Arris Architects
Location: Plainfield, IL
Project Type: Renovation
The village of Plainfield was first settled in the 1820s – a small rural community that seemed very distant from the city of Chicago, 40 miles to the northeast. But Plainfield has experienced explosive growth in population and nearby suburban traffic in recent years. With growth came renewed interest in Lockport Street, the historic core of the Village, and its local stores and services.
Community and financial support was generated for the revitalization of downtown Plainfield. Marvin projects included replacement of 5’ x 10’ hung windows, storefront applications, and restoration of some openings to the original design intent by replacing glass block windows with large Round top assemblies.
