A Broad Gable House
Architect: Robert Coolidge
Firm: Robert T. Coolidge, AIA
Location: Guilford, CT
Project Type: Contemporary
This new house on the Connecticut shoreline is reminiscent of a shingle style home with a contemporary feel. Nothing creates the timeless look of a home like a gable form. Spanning the longest side of the house with a gable presented a design challenge, but it paid off here with a bold form and just the right amount of loft space. Marvin windows capitalized on the water throughout each level. A number of standard size windows helped the build stay on budget, while a few custom windows gave the home its own unique appearance.
