Marvin Windows Adds Douglas Fir As Standard Option

Marvin Windows and Doors adds to their line of wood species with the addition of Douglas Fir.

  • Douglas Fir joins pine, white oak, cherry, mahogany and Vertical Grain Douglas fir as wood species offerings.  The new wood species will be offered as a standard option.
  • Douglas Fir, popular all over the United States, but especially in the West, has a rosy color that deepens over time.  It also has a valuable role to play in historical renovations.
  • The wood’s grain pattern is a handsome mix of flat, vertical and tangential patterns.  Its aesthetics make it perfect for any sort of home, and its strength-to-weight ratio and natural dimensional stability adds to its durability.
  • Taken from the timber-rich Pacific Northwest, Douglas Fir is North America’s most plentiful softwood.  Over 1.5 billion tree seedlings are planted annually. Like all of Marvin’s wood species, Douglas Fir is processed at Marvin’s wood processing facility in Baker City, Ore.

Douglas Fir is available on Marvin’s wood-clad windows and patio doors, with the exception of gliders.   The cladding used with Douglas Fir continues to be extruded aluminum with a Kynar 500® finish for durability and lasting beauty.

“Douglas Fir adds greatly to our product line and offers another attractive option to our standard wood options.  It is a great choice of wood species for historically accurate remodels or for those who want Douglas Fir’s special rose tone.  It’s a wonderful all-around wood species for beauty and durability. And since it is a managed wood species, it is a good option for sustainable homebuilding and remodeling.”
