An anti-slam safety feature is incorporated in the 2 point lock.

A safety button is located between the locking hooks on the face plate. When the door is opened and the button is extended, the thumb turn and the keyway are disabled preventing the locking hooks from extending, thus preventing damage to the lock hooks, strike, or jamb. When the door is closed the safety button will disengage and allow the lock hooks to engage.

This device can be retro fitted to a sliding patio door prior to April 1, 2008, by ordering part number 02100937.
