FAQ Knowledge Articles

Marvin's painted interior finish colors, White and Designer Black, will be available for paint matching through Sherwin-Williams retail locations.

Marvin customers will be able to purchase a paint that has been developed to reflect Marvin's painted interior finish colors at any of the 4100+ Sherwin-Williams retail locations. Marvin customers will be able to purchase paint that has been developed to match the Marvin painted interior finishes. Marvin customers will have two options when selecting the paint.

Water borne brush paint formula has been developed for the do-it-yourselfer. This paint is only available in gallons, and must be applied using a brush. The Sherwin-Williams associate will provide you with the color and type of paint needed as well as instructions for application. Remember to mention the Marvin colors can be found in the Sherwin-Williams national database.

Water borne spray formula has also been developed for Marvin customers looking to have millwork professionally painted. Paint in spray form is only available in gallons, and application with conventional air spray equipment using a spray paint needle/nozzle setup is recommended. Marvin interior paint colors can be ordered through any Sherwin-Williams retail store. The spray formula requires approximately a 10 -14 day lead time from Sherwin-Williams.

When purchasing paint from a Sherwin-Williams store it is recommended that you bring with you a sample of the primed wood you plan to paint as well as a Marvin color paint sample (available from any Marvin Window and Door dealer). The sample of wood can be used to verify that the paint color will meet your needs. The Sherwin-Williams associate can then provide you with the color and type of paint needed, as well as instructions for application. You may also request a tinted primer option, if you are starting with bare wood that performs best with their topcoat options.

The actual appearance of the interior paint on the finished product may vary due to the characteristics of natural wood, which varies in color, texture and grain. The appearance of wood changes, often darkening over time.  Lighting conditions and other factors will affect overall appearance of the color and tone.
