Using a photo from 1910 as our guide, we embarked on the restoration of a third floor ballroom of this 1880’s Second Empire Victorian. This was a unique project not only for its historical significance but also for its logistical challenges. 9 dormers were fully recreated, the dimensions of which were guided by evidence of the original framing buried within the mansard roof structure. Other work included replicating a horizontal water course and upper fascia/dental bands along with a new roof.
