Faced with the challenges of high construction costs and a worker and materials shortage – due to Japan’s earthquake recovery and 2020 Tokyo Olympic preparation – APOLLO Architects & Associates Co., Ltd had to get creative when designing this Nakano home. The team decided to use exposed concrete instead of regular wooden framework as well as a frame-waterproof material for the roof to best adhere to the short lead time and tight budget. Complete with a studio, outdoor living space and floor-to-ceiling windows, we think they knocked this project out of the park. Check out more photos of the residence here.
