When turning their small bungalow into a modern beach house, the homeowners didn't want to compromise on quality despite a tight budget. Given the home’s close proximity to the water, the building materials used had to withstand salt air, strong winds, driving rain, high humidity and more. The owners also wanted to make the project as “green” as possible, choosing energy-efficient products that help reduce a home’s carbon footprint. In order to attain an ocean view, they had to build up, resulting in the need for larger windows in unique sizes with expansive glass.
The Architect on the project had a history of success partnering with Marvin® and Integrity, so All Ultrex® and Wood-Ultrex® was an obvious choice. A sleek exterior design was a perfect complement to the new modern style of the home. The fact that Ultrex is made from silica sand, a safe and abundant natural resource. It also takes 39% less energy to produce, which helped address the environmental concerns of the owners. Ultrex is less conductive, and remains stable in extreme temperatures, resulting in superior thermal performance in coastal areas. Integrity windows are built tougher, last longer, and protect better.
