Nestled at the entrance to The Smoky Mountain National Park, the town of Gatlinburg is known for promoting efficient and sustainable green development. They even have a “Gatlinburg Goes Green” initiative. So when the developers of the Hilton Garden Inn were constructing their new property, a 118-room hotel, it became absolutely imperative that LEED certification be met. LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction and operation of high performance green buildings. And even though pursuing LEED would increase overall costs by 7 to 9%,the owners felt it was an extremely important endeavor. The architects and developers were familiar with the strength, durability and energy efficiency of Integrity Windows and Doors.
Having used Integrity products in the past, the developers were confidant that based on the goals and objectives of this project Integrity was the perfect solution. Wood-Ultrex® Casements & Awnings were selected for their ENERGY STAR® qualified performance, and Integrity’s 10-day delivery and overall commercial capabilities helped in the construction process.
The Marvin® family of brands has a long history of green-minded initiatives and the Integrity product line capitalizes on new technologies creating a product that’s virtually indestructible with a patented fiberglass exterior:
• Made from silica sand - a safe and abundant natural resource.
• Takes considerably less energy to create than most other window and door materials.
• Unmatched durability - outlasting and outperforming the competition.
By choosing Integrity - and establishing a recycling program, a waste management plan and reducing water usage by 30%, and energy usage by 20%, the property became the first new hotel in Tennessee to be awarded Silver Level LEED certification.
