A clean, crisp design is the perfect complement to a room graced with panoramic views.
When you have a room with views as incredible as this one, you want to be sure your décor does nothing to detract from the scenery. Choosing sleek, natural and chic colors, furnishings and accessories is a smart path to take, and one that was chosen by the designers of this space.
“An understated design was chosen to let the stunning views be the focus of the room,” says Fred Wilson with Morgante Wilson Architects, LTD, architecture and interior design firm for this project.
The crisp white walls and ceilings are matched with clean, modern furnishings in earthy tones, creating a subdued and welcoming space for visitors wanting to enjoy the views. The table base, cane chairs, patterned rug and glass sculpture recall the vivid natural wonders just outside. Chic yet durable materials were chosen to withstand the elements and contribute to the room’s overall aesthetic. Pendant lights with translucent drum shades hover close to the ceiling so as not to detract from the views.
All these elements are flooded with natural light from a bank of Marvin single-light casement windows with divided-light transoms above. These windows, covered in simple sheer Roman shades, and a set of French doors beautifully frame water and sky.
“The single-light windows were used to keep the views to the lake unobstructed, the transoms … provide historic detail and styling,” Fred says. “The Marvin picture units are awesome and provide the grand unobstructed views that stop every guest right in their tracks.
Those stunned guests have a carefully crafted place to relax while they gaze at the beautiful surroundings. “The space was designed to provide a cozy space to sit by the fire, listen to waves and enjoy the amazing view,” Fred says.
