There’s no disputing the fact modern homes have never been more intelligent. Thermostats now have the ability to automatically set temperatures by sensing occupancy and observing our daily schedules. Televisions can be programmed to record our favorite shows remotely through mobile apps. Refrigerators can help create our grocery list and remind us of perishables soon expiring.
Now, even tables are being built with brains.
Samsung just unveiled its SUR40 with Microsoft PixelSense, which brings the same kind of touchscreen user interface we know and love to the table — literally. Samsung’s so-called smart table isn’t available to consumers just yet, but look for a consumer-friendly version once the price of components and hardware come down. For now, you can find it in a few lucky bars, casinos and retail stores.
So, what do you think? Would you be willing to set your morning coffee down on a smart table like this?
