Last March, we told you about The Performance House in Old Greenwich, Conn., which was built by Peter Fusaro, owner and founder of Preferred Builders. A Master Certified Green Professional, Fusaro’s Performance House has earned acclaim as one of the “greenest” homes in the state — and soon, the nation.
At next month’s 2014 International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, Fusaro will be presented an NAHBGreen Award for best single family project.
Though it easily passes for a traditional Nantucket-style, Performance House is 2,800-square-feet of greatly considered systems and careful planning. For instance, Wood-Ultrex Casement Windows from Integrity were used to promote better air-infiltration performance.
Fusaro also varied glass selection among the windows based on their solar orientation. South-facing windows with a higher solar heat-game coefficient (SHGC) were used to capitalize on solar heat during the winter daylight hours, while the other three sides of the house use Integrity casements with greater insulation (U-0.28 compared to U-0.30 on the south side) to hold heat in.
We at Integrity are honored our products were used in Fusaro’s award-winning project. Congratulations, Pete!
