myMarvin Architect's Challenge winner: Block Island House

By Berit Griffin October 16, 2012

Inspired by the simple, no frills architecture of Block Island’s early designs, this project by James Estes of Estes/Twombly Architects Inc.  celebrates Block Island, Rhode Island’s tradition with a more lively twist.

This home is another of our winners of the 2012 myMarvin Architect’s Challenge. See a gallery of the rest of the stunning winners here.

The Block Island House consists of a large open living, dining, and kitchen space with supporting den, four bedrooms, and the porch. All of the rooms, except for the den, take advantage of the light and southerly views. Marvin Windows and Doors were used to stand up to the rugged climate and provide the large glass areas needed.

Windows used included the Ultimate Awning Window, the Ultimate Double Hung Window, sliding patio doors and picture windows.
