Hot Coastal Living TrendsBy Sam Tuttle, Marvin Windows
Coastal homes are often associated with beautiful views and inspired architecture, but what are homeowners doing to keep up with ever changing interior and exterior design trends? Following are some of the common themes we’ve seen heating up in coastal living throughout 2015.
Pops of Color
White coastal kitchens are and always will be a classic, but more and more homeowners are looking to incorporate color. Shades of blue are a safe addition and can make all the difference when applied to islands, décor or chairs. Those really looking to break the norm are incorporating reds and corals – which pair nicely with both the traditional whites and blues.

Beyond color, the kitchen is more commonly being used as a place for people to gather and spend time, with many homeowners designing their kitchens to accommodate guests.

Maximize the Outdoors
Coastal kitchens and living spaces are also making their way outdoors. It’s now common to have outdoor living spaces encompass areas like a dining room, a lounging area or a fire pit. Part of this includes bringing furniture traditionally reserved for indoors outside as well. Upholstered outdoor furniture isn’t just trendy – it’s comfortable. The exterior concept is slowly becoming a room with a finished look, and why not? It feels great to spend time outside!
