ASID Showcase Home Tour

By ,

Minneapolis is known as the “City of Lakes” (did you know there are actually more than 10,000 throughout the entire state of Minnesota?), and Minneapolitans are able to take advantage of lots of time on the water throughout the warmer months. Despite its water-loving reputation, Minneapolis is most definitely a landlocked city. One homeowner decided that their house should honor the water and help brighten up the long winters with a coastal theme. This beachy house was the ASID MN (American Society of Interior Designers Minnesota chapter) 2015 Showcase Home.

Located near Lake Harriet in Minneapolis, this home is a complete renovation from the ground up. Cedar shakes make it look like it could be at home on the shores of Nantucket.

A swing on the front porch invites guests to sit and watch the world go by on the charming street.

Light blue and weathered wood ceilings give the living room a beachy vibe.

The blue theme continues in the dining room with a Japanese-style mural.

The kitchen is white, clean and classic with marble countertops.

Need to get some sun? There’s a beautiful sunroom at the back of the home–perfect for relaxing with a book.

There were nods to the coastal theme throughout the house.

The basement was made for entertaining, with a mini-kitchen, dining area and an office for when you need to get some work done!

And of course, windows were a key design element, in which both Marvin and Integrity products were combined in this house to bring light in. We are proud to be a supporting sponsor of this home. Faith’s Lodge, a retreat for grieving parents, was the nonprofit partner of the ASID Showcase Home. We hope you have enjoyed this mini tour–pick up your copy of MplsStPaul Magazine to learn more about this gorgeous home. Congratulations to all the designers who worked on the ASID Showcase Home!
