2015 IBS Recap

By ,

After a weekend of unpacking suitcases and reflecting upon our exciting week in Las Vegas for the International Builders’ Show, we’re excited to incorporate the things we learned from IBS sessions and other attendees. From consumer needs to innovative product ideas, 2015 IBS lived up to its potential. Weren’t able to make it this year or longing to relive the show floor buzz? Here are our three biggest takeaways from this year’s IBS:

Consumer Trends
One of the coolest parts of IBS is all of opportunities to learn. We were excited to attend one of the Exhibitor Floor Forums presented by Houzz: What Your Customers Want: Houzz Shares Consumer Trends. The session stressed the importance of quality to buyers and also shared some interesting trends in the consumer space. For example, 70% of Houzz users are adding windows to their bathrooms and pops of color are starting to be found on stainless steel appliances. Fun fact? The Houzz speaker was from our home state of Minnesota!

Outdoor Spaces
A crowd favorite of Marvin’s booth was the Ultimate Multi-Slide door, and we don’t blame them. Our brand new addition to the Scenic Door collection is impressive and especially grand in person. Consumers and media alike are excited about this new product because of its design flexibility — perfect for bringing the outdoors in at your home or creating larger spaces in commercial locations. With that in mind, one of our takeaways from IBS is the increasingly large focus on outdoor spaces. Why not take advantage of your backyard and gorgeous weather while you can? The Ultimate Multi-Slide will be available this summer, and we’re excited to see the beautiful ways that architects and builders incorporate the door into their designs.

Fashionable Function
Nearly all of our favorite new products at the International Builders’ Show had one thing in common: they had style. Gone are the days of having to choose between high-performing utilities and your home design! As you can tell from our daily highlights, all sorts of brands, from ClosetMaid to Kichler, are providing consumers with endless possibilities when it comes to the look and feel of their home.
