| In 1980 Ripley, a small rural community just 60 miles northeast of Memphis, was selected as a Marvin plant location. Duff Marshall, VP of Sales, Craig McFarlane and Dave Sondgeroth, Continuous Improvement Managers in Ripley, teamed up to fulfill a dual role of manufacturer and distributor in the new 96,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility completed in 1981.
Since 1982, the plant has been devoted to the production of Marvin doors. From just six employees, the Ripley facility now covers 570,000 square feet and employs more than 800 people.
Ripley was the first of the Marvin companies to implement 5S, a visual workplace, as the basis for ensuring a safe working environment, a quality product, and a cost effective manufacturing process.
